| Seniors Card Seniors Card is a joint Queensland Government and private enterprise initiative which provides Seniors Card holders with access to a range of valuable Government concessions and business discounts. Seniors Card and Seniors Business Discount Card membership is free to permanent residents of Queensland aged 60 years or over. Membership cards are issued as permanent lifetime cards. If you are not a Queensland resident, visit the Seniors Card web site for your state or territory. Who can get a Seniors Card? All Queensland residents aged 60 or over are eligible for either a Seniors Card or Seniors Business Discount Card. You may only receive one of these two cards, depending on your individual circumstances. How do you define 'a permanent resident of Queensland'? If you are an Australian citizen, you must be registered to vote with the Electoral Commission of Queensland. If you are not an Australian citizen, you must have proof that you are a refugee, Temporary Protection Visa or Permanent Resident Visa holder, or eligible for some kind of Centrelink or Veterans' assistance. You must also reside in Queensland for more than six months of a year. Seniors Card eligibility To be eligible for Seniors Card, which gives access to Queensland Government Concessions and shopping discounts (including the Senior Shopper service), you must be either: • aged 65 and over, and not working full time (less than 35 hours per week); or • aged 60 to 64, not working full time (less than 35 hours per week) and hold a Commonwealth concession card from Centrelink or Department of Veterans' Affairs (for example, a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card or Veterans' Gold, White or Orange Card). Department of Families since 1990 and now the Department of Communities.
The program is a collaboration between government and business which tries
to help seniors save money, stay in touch, and enjoy growing older by
staying healthy, positive and connected to their communities. If businesses
